Cancun Airport
The Cancun Airport is served by several US airlines with direct flights from Miami, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and New York.
British Airways has a direct flight out of London; and Iberia Airlines from Madrid to the Cancun airport. Charter flights are available from Italy, Spain, Germany, Belgium and Canada.
The airport is located at the south end of the Cancun strip, centrally located to the Mayan Riviera which extends to Tulum.
The airport is handicapped accessible.
Once inside the Cancun airport terminal you'll see lines for immigration. If you're arriving on the weekend you'll find the longest lines.
No matter how long your line is, it's time to relax and change to Mexican time. Even if you get through quickly, you'll still have to wait for your luggage.
The money exchange rate at the Cancun airport is not good. Instead, bring your ATM card or cash and visit a bank when you get to your destination.
The visitors information booth is located at the main entrance to the Terminal 2 building. The terminal facilities are generally open 9:00am to 9:00pm. You'll find fast food outlets, restaurants, gift shops, ATMs, and mail boxes. Some shops and one restaurant are open 24 hours.
Buses to Playa del Carmen depart every hour; and cost $7.00 for the hour ride. There's no public Cancun bus service from the airport, however, taxis and shuttles are plentiful.
Executive, Hertz, Thrifty, Alamo, Budget, Avis, and National provide car rentals from the terminal.
